Kona Manta Ray Dive

Thanks for all the good coments I have got on the shark clip. Here is a clip from when we were diving in Kona, three years ago. This is one of the top dives of my life. I was underwater for about an hour watching the Manta Rays.

Soupfin Sharks On Catilina Dive

Here is a short clip of the Soupfin Sharks I saw on the trip.

More Dive Trip Pictures

Hope you all enjoy. I am teaching Scuba now, let me know if anyone wants to get certified? It's fun.

Dive trip in the Channel Islands

For my birthday every year, Danielle sends me on a 3 day live-aboard dive boat called the Peace Boat in the Channel Islands. The boats leaves from Venture Harbor and goes out to the eight Islands of the coast of Southern California. The location on our dives varies from year to year depending on the weather conditions. This trip we spent two days at Catalina and one at Santa Cruz Island. In all I did 16 dives and a lot of eating and sleeping. It's a lot of fun if you love to dive, but it's kind of like camping on a boat - not for everyone. I saw tons of cool fish on one dive. We swam in to a group of 12 Soupfin Sharks, which ranged from 3 to 6 ft in length. It was a little tense at moments because they were very curious and swam within a few feet of me at times and even started to circle us. I left my camera on the boat, so we made a second dive in the same spot. Luckily they were still there. I can go on and on about all the things I saw and did, but I don't want to write all night, so I'll have to tell you about it another time. Here are a few pictures.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASON!

It's just me, Danielle, the blogger hacker, taking over for Jason while he is away. He is currently diving off the coast of Catalina Island down in Southern California. I was able to send a secret message to the boat to let them know it was his birthday so they could make him a cake. Anyway, Happy Birthday Jason! I hope that you are having a wonderful time. Love you, miss you, and see you soon!

All good things must come to a end

Saturday was the final night of the '07 camping trip. We ended with a game of poker and just a lot of hanging around the camp. For how many people there were, things went amazingly smooth and I can't wait to do it again.

Family Hike

Saturday we had a good breakfast, then headed off for a nice group hike. There were nine of us plus a dog that hiked up the trail to the meadow. It was a nice short hike that all enjoyed.

Huge Meteor

Danny an I saw a huge meteor Friday night just after midnight. We were sitting at the fire when it looked like there was a disco ball from above, all the trees were casting shadows. We had enough time to stand up and turn around and still see it for 4 seconds it was south east from the camp. The whole camp was light up as bright as day. A few minutes later there was a huge sonic boom. It was the craziest thing I have ever seen, wish there was more info on it. Early the next morning there was a military jet that flew low over head? Not sure if they were checking it out? This sight had the most info on it but it's not much.

Sweet Six Bracket

After most of the people were there we decided to have a horseshoe tournament, we had six teams - Danielle and Danny, Janet and Little Ginger, Joe and Stephanie, Gail and Treacy, Dave and Diane and last but not least Ginger and me. It was a hard fought battle and there was money on it, five dollars a team. In the end Ginger and I won. We were in the finals with Gail and Treacy, Ginger carried us through the tournament, consistently scoring points. Later on that evening Lisa, Tony, Steph, Lily, Joey and their dog Bear arrived. We had a great dinner of Tacos and Burritos it was great for camp food. And last to show up was John and Lynda. Of course when he showed up it was straight to his new BB gun no time to stop and say hi. Diane made a B- Day cake for me, thanks it was delicious!

The masses arrive

The morning of day three Danny, Ginger and I decided to hike to the meadows were we spread my Grandpa's ashes, it was a step climb but well worth it. I found a new trail to take back to camp, we ended up hiking 5 miles. When we returned Danielle and Janet, Gail and Treacy with their two dogs Mattie and Emmie had already arrived and were all set up and ready for some camping fun. We hung around camp making bets to see when my brother would arrive. I won. Danny found us a nice piece of firewood he carried back to camp. LOL!

Only the strong survive

Wednesday Danny, Ginger and I were the only two brave enough/dumb enough to come up that early. We got there about noon and spent most of the day setting up camp and gathering firewood. We hung around the camp fire and played some intense games of Uno.

The next morning we got an early start for are 9 mile hike from Ebbetts pass to highlands lake. We parked one car at the lake which would be are finish line, then drove the other to the top, to start the PCT. The hike ended up being amazing we took are time and took lots of breaks to enjoy the scenario and snap a few pics. It took us about five hours to hike 9 miles and 2000 vert are highest elevation was about 9400.

When we returned to camp My Dad, Sis, Stephine and CC were there all set up and waiting for are arrival. We were really hungry after all the hiking so we had lunch, then Danielle's parents Dave and Diane showed up. We helped them get set up then off to the summit to pick up the car we left behind. We got side tracked and Danny did a little fishing at Kinney Reservoir.
