Weekend Rummage Sale

Our spot at the Wooster High Rummage sales.
Cute Pit bull puppies at the sale.
Danielle driving her cousin Jerry's 32 Ford

Over the weekend we started off Saturday with a Rummage sale at Wooster High School. After paying the school there cut we made $175 not bad for a bunch of old junk we were going to donate.

Sunday we started off the day doing some chores around the house. In the afternoon we went to the Atlantis and meet Danielle's parents, they are in town at a family members B-Day. Dave's cousin was driving through Reno on a car rally with the Alviso car club. We swung by the Atlantis and checked out the cars, Danielle even took here cousins 32 Ford for a spin, the non power steering was tough on her shoulder.

I hurt my back on Tuesday and was out of commission for two days. I took a short run today and no issues so I am going to build up running and biking for the Muddy Buddy race next Sunday.

A Busy Weekend

Armando and Susan
Baby Taylor
Baby Taylor
Danielle, Brett and Macy

Last weekend was really busy, I just now got time to do a post. Last Saturday we started off the day driving to Sacramento to have breakfast at Brett and Macy's. Our friends Susan and Armando and there newborn daughter Taylor were there visiting. It was a quick trip but worth it to see some great friends. Taylor seems like a great baby, she is very relaxed and didn't cry at all, for the few hours we were there. Armando and Susan had a long drive back to Fresno and took off at about noon.

When they left, Macy decided to challenge us to a round of Miniature Golf. We were short on time but it sounded fun. We went to Golfland which is way better than the one in Milpitas that I grew up playing at, there is a waterslide park built on. We played one round and everyone was talking crap saying they were going to win, in the end Daniele and I each sunk a ball in the water, and I got my but kicked. Macy ended up wining with Brett and Danielle close behind with me picking up the rear. After a fun round of mini Golf we grabbed a quick bit to eat at Qdoba then back over the hill.

After a quick change at our house we were off to Marcus and Julie's house for a Barbecue. It was supposed to be there annual Lobster party. Marcus orders all the Lobsters live from Maine and has a big feast. But for whatever reason the Lobsters never showed up. They scrambled last minute and went to the store and bought some chicken and beef and pulled it off without a hitch. It was great to see a lot of our friends from the dive club, I've been busy with other things and haven't seen most of them for awhile. Unfortunately we were only able to stay for about an hour then off to the Aces Game.

We started off the day early and were getting worn out at this point. We got to the game just as it started. The game was exciting which keep us awake. The Aces pulled out a win and the first home run I've seen by an Aces player in the park. After the game we were worked and had to get to bed.

Back to playing Softball

We'll tonight was my first back since hurting my finger over 3 weeks ago. I still have it wrapped since the finger tip still isn't fully healed, the break seems good though. We were playing great the first half and we were up 18-9 in the 5th, but we managed to blow it and lost. Oh well it was nice to be back out there though.

The Great Urban Race San Francisco

Today Aunt Ginger, Janet and Danielle and I ran The Great Urban Race in San Francisco. The race is similar to the Amazing Race TV show but all in one day in one city. You start off the race with a list of 12 clues, and your allowed to skip one. There's many different types of clues some were puzzles, riddles and instructions. You are allowed to use any technology and have phone a friends, I brought my laptop which helped a lot being able to Goggle some of the clues. At the start we decided to sit down and figure out the clues to map out our routes through the city. You are only allowed to travel by foot or public mass transit. It took us about 45 minutes to solve all the clues then we headed out. We went all over the city It started in the Presidio by the Golden gate bridge . First clue brought us to the Asqew resturant and had to eat some corn, then we needed to find a member of the Team hope foundation and donate $5. After the first two we took a bus to China town and had to go to the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory and get a fortune. Then then we took pic of a statue in a Chinese garden. We then ran down to the Transamerica building, and had to take a pic holding the number of fingers up from a riddle. We were then off to the Pier 1 Market place to take a picture of a Ghandi statue. The race then brought us to 6th and Howard to tag the side of a art studio and pick up a flyer. Across the street was the clue and had to take a pic with this building that had all kinds of crazy things built into it our shot need to have a bathtub in it. We were than back on the bus to do our last clue a mini boot camp in a gym at the Presideo, it took about five minutes we did push ups, jump rope and through a medican ball, then it was a 5 minute run back to the finish. We didn't win but we finished in the middle of the pack and stayed with Aunt Ginger and Janet for the whole race. We won't no the exact results for a few days.

Thanks to Janet for running which is not in the vocabulry, she ran a few miles. There were 450 teams of 2 and they said it was one of the biggest Great Urban Races ever. I really had a good time and I can't wait for the race next year.

Busy Day in the Bay

Wow today was long. We awoke at 4:30 to drop Danielle off at school by 5;30, so she could head down to Discovery Kingdom with the 8th Graders. This weekend we are doing a race in San Francisco called the Great Urban Race, as is Ginger and Janet. The race is kinda like the mini Amazing race all wrapped into one city and one day.

We decided to also go to Discovery Kingdom and pick up Danielle then head straight to the city. The park was fun as always, we didn't leave Reno till 8:30 and arrived at the park at about 11;30. We got to our hotel in SF at 5;30, by the time we got settled in we jumped on the bus to head to SBC Park to watch the Giant and Met's game, the Giants were playing good for most of the game but blew it in the end.

I am off to bed we have another long day tomorrow. Hope we at least finish the race tomorrow. I'll do a post on Sunday.

Reno River Festival and Run Amuck

This weekend was the 6th annual Reno River Festival. The event includes a variety of kayaking competitions from whitewater, boater cross races, and freestyle. There is also music, fly fishing demos, double dutch street battle, and plenty of beer to go around. Last year they added a fun run event call the Run Amuck. It sounded like so much fun, that Danielle and I signed up this year. The race is a 2.5 mile relay complete with obstacles such as a 60-foot mud pit that you have to crawl (or swan dive like I did) through. Each partner has to run the 2.5 mile loop, complete the obstacles, and make it back to the start/finish line with the baton (a bar of soap). There were 700 participants (350 teams) all dressed to the nines with kooky costumes. Danielle and I donned our caveman costumes, laced up our running shoes, and made our best attempt to make fools of ourselves. Slightly bruised and battered from the obstacles, it was a successful run. After the 5 miles were complete, we jumped in the excessively cold Truckee River to rinse off. The results haven’t been posted yet, so we don’t know where we placed, but we will post that when it is available. Many thanks to Aunt Ginger, Janet, Grandma Margaret, and Brad for coming out, taking some pics, and watching the fun. I am sure you guys were laughing all the way home!

Got a new Bike

I have been wanting a new bike for a few years and just didn't want to spend the cash. My Diamond Back I have had for about 12 years and it was beat, but it served me good. Over the weekend I found a Iron Horse MK III that was a few years old and I talk them down over 55% so I couldn't pass on the deal. I took it for a short lunch ride today and love it. I couldn't ride it real hard, since I still have a jacked up finger.

Fireworks at the Aces game

Last night we had a softball game, but since my finger is still messed up Danielle dropped me off at the Aces game and she came at the end. The game was exciting lots of hits and they won, it's the first time they won when we were at the game. Every Friday night they do fireworks which are always fun to see.

Tomorrow I'm going back to the doctor, hopefully I'll get my stitches out they snag on everything. I'm going to have to keep my finger in the split for a few weeks because of the fracture, and I can't get it wet for a few weeks, until it's healed. It's been a pain in the but having to cover it in the shower. Hope it heals quick so I can get out there and start climbing.
